Hi,
I've developped a mobile application able to connect to your Synology NAS and manage your downloads. It is called "SynoLoad" and is available on several platforms:
- For iPhone, on the AppStore: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/synoload ... 28089?mt=8 (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/synoload/id350828089?mt=8)
- For iPad, on the AppStore: http://itunes.apple.com/app/synoload-hd ... 11969?mt=8 (http://itunes.apple.com/app/synoload-hd/id382111969?mt=8)
- For Windows Mobile 6.x, on my website.
- For Android 1.6 and after, on the Android Market: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... y.SynoLoad (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.patey.SynoLoad)
- For Symbian Series 60 5th edition (touchscreen) on the OVI Store
- For Windows Phone 7: http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store ... 6cfb0d3d4d (http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/app/synoload/7884b020-b34c-4ae5-a88a-196cfb0d3d4d)
SynoLoad allows you to connect to your Download Station and manage your downloads. You will be able to add or remove files, but also check the speed or pause downloads.
The included web browser will help you choose the file you wish to download with a single touch, and the smart search engine will allow you to look for any kind of file. New search engines can be added dynamically, so you will never miss your good old finder. Mininova is included by default!
Morever, the built-in RSS reader helps you keep track of your software updates. You will be able to add new RSS feeds to SynoLoad and be notified of new files to download.
Afraid to open your Download Station access to the Internet? SynoLoad handles both HTTP and HTTPS and is capable of connecting to it through a SSH Server (iPhone and WinMob only), so it is completely secure!
A complete description is available on my website as well as other screen captures:

Any comments are welcome !
Thanks,
Jerome

Hi,
I'm sorry that it's too much for you... but if you have a WinMob, it's free, and if you have a Nokia or Android, it's only 2 euros for now :)

Jérôme

I think it's looking very good. 8)
I downloaded it for my windows phone, have to configure it still, but it could be very nice.
thanks,
Robert

Hi,
I really would like to download your software. But I have a problem. I don't have a credit card, and for the Android App market you'lle need a credit card to purchase items from the App market if I am correct.
Do you have an alternative way to get your software on my phone? With Paypal or something?
Running an HTC Desire on Android 2.1.
Greetings,
Nick
-
Hi,
Sorry, I don't have any other way... you will have to do with the Android Market.

Any change you could get this to work with the SABnzbd package for the Syno?

Hi,
Nope, I want SynoLoad to work with a vanilla Synology, and not require the user to install something special.

Its allready installed, so no problem there :D

Hi again,
When you buy a Synology server, and just flash the defaut firmware, SabNZB is there ;-) ? I don't think so. It's an optional package.
I will see what to do with that, maybe it will come in a future update (but don't wait for it !).
Thanks,
Jérôme
PS: Did you try SynoLoad? If yes, what do you think?
-
The SABnzbd package works better for me. Im not going to use downloadstation just because a app is made for it. I can use my SABnzbd on my Syno atm by just reaching it though OperaMini on my Galaxy. So no problem there. I was just wondering if it would be possible to manage SABnzbd through your app.
-
There is an app for that :) Called MyNZB and is available in the appstore.

Understandable, however, please understand that the simple fact that I did not remove your advertisement, or commercial posting is that you actually made a nice app, and announcing it here seems reasonable. Just as it seems reasonable to mention other apps. This other app is not even doing the same, since your app is only for Download Station, and MyNZB* is only for Sabnzbd.
*In bold because you removed it when quoting me above ;)
-
Hi Bjorn,
it's not a problem to mention other apps, as long as it doesn't last for several posts :)
And the other application is a competitor, as it allows you to download from newsgroups on your Synology... same thing for SynoLoad.
Did you try the application on your side ? I'm having very little feedback from users (which is a good thing, it meets their requirement), but I'm running short on new features ;-)
Thanks,
Jérôme
-
No didn't try it. Like most users on this forum I mainly use sabnzbd for downloading.. Hence the request to also add sabnzbd support ;)
-
I'm using on my Synology:
Downloadstation for direct downloads and emule
Transmission for torrents
SABnzbd+ for newsgroups
I own a HTC Desire Android and i`m using the next apps.
Synodroid for downloadstation (waiting for emule support)
Transdroid for Transmission
SABcontrol for SABnzbd+

Hi all,
Please stop with the other applications... use other topics for that.
Let's focus here on SynoLoad, which is available on iPhone, Android, Symbian and WinMob. It allows you to connect to your Synology Download Station and manage your downloads (torrent, nzb, zip, exe, ...).
Thanks,
Jérôme
PS: myNZB is for iPhone only, that's why you won't find it on the Android Market.

Hi all,
SynoLoad HD is now published on the AppStore.
Is there any feature that you would like to see in the "big screen" version of SynoLoad ?
Thanks,
Jérôme
-
Hi all,
I'm adding new languages in SynoLoad, so that everybody can have it in its own language.
Anybody interested in translating to Dutch ? I will provide a redeem code (iPhone and/or iPad) for the first to help :)
Thanks,
Jérôme

Hi all,
SynoLoad v1.5 is now live on the AppStore:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/synoload ... 28089?mt=8 (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/synoload/id350828089?mt=8)
SynoLoad has (again) been greatly improved in this version, thanks to you! Many of those improvements come from user suggestions. So don't hesitate to contact me, either through SynoLoad (in Settings > About > Contact me) or through my website (http://dev.patey.net (http://dev.patey.net)).
It is now translated into 6 languages, and more are coming.
There is also a new light theme, for those who didn't appreciate the dark one ;-) This can be changed in the settings.
New Synology firmware (DSM 3.0 beta) is out, and SynoLoad is [of course] compatible with it !
Check out all the improvements:
- Translated application to French, German, Italian, Danish, Swedish
- Added a "Light" theme (can be changed in the settings)
- Improved application flow
- Added some animations when changing screen
- Improved error mechanism (show a message box with a detailed message)
- Split the "Searcher" configuration in 2 screens for clarification
- Added a field to choose username/password when adding a new URL
- Added a button to clear all finished downloads
- Added confirmation when removing a server, bookmark, rss feed and searcher
- Hide "Refresh" button when autorefresh is activated
- Changed font to support special characters
- Add number of new RSS items on login page (no need to log to your NAS !)
- Added a button to log out of the current NAS in the settings
- Autologin if only one server (can be disabled in the settings)
- Improved download detection in the webview
- Improved downloading from a RSS feed
- Added support for BinSearch.info, NewzLeech.com and more !
- Updated UI for iPhone 4 Retina Display
Also, several bugs have been fixed:
- Fix crash when entering an invalid RSS feed URL which prevented launching the application again
- When "http://" isn't specified in the "Add Searcher from URL", the searcher can't be added
- ActivityIndicator in top left corner may appear black on some iPhone (depending on iOS)
- Cannot change the download folder
- In some cases, RSS feed wouldn't allow downloading anything
If you find any issue with this version or if you have suggestions, contact me!
Let me know what you think of it !
Cheers,
Jérôme
-
Allright allright.. I'll buy it ;)

Ehr.. Dutch language file seems missing..
-
Hi,
Yes, I some translation files were still missing, so I decided to submit this one and soon after, when all the dutch files are translated, I'll post a new version 1.5.1 :) That should be possible tomorrow or the day after !

Jérôme

Hi,
I just received a mail from Apple: Application is Ready for sale, so it should be out on the AppStore in the coming hours !
They work on the weekend, AND they're quick ! Less than 12 hours from submission to approval, incredible !

Yeah right.

Hi,
I ask people for their IMEI to be able to send them an APK for their mobile phone (and only their phone, not their friend's) if those people do not want to go through the normal Android Market channel. This is a solution I found, and if the person doesn't want to send the IMEI, no problem. Go through the Android Market and Google Checkout. It is just a workaround.
Another solution, when some guys ask "can I buy SynoLoad in Norway ?" would be to say "no, wait for Google to provide the Android Market to Norway"... but instead, I provide another way.
But good for you if you're satisfied with SABNZB :)
Regards,
Jérôme
PS: And by the way, I'm not in Lithuania, I'm in France !
-
I dont care. Its reckless to give away an IMEI.

Yeah, you could die ! Jokes aside, you're against giving away your IMEI, I understand.
Have a good day,

I dont care. Its reckless to give away an IMEI.
Might be, but as Jerome correctly states, you don't need to give him the IMEI. If you purchase the app the regular way through the android market no IMEI is needed or asked.
If you are unable to buy through the appstore - like you are according to your post earlier in this thread - the usual answer of a developer is that you simply cannot buy the app. Your loss. Jerome is very kindly offering a method for you to buy the app using the IMEI, but instead of thanking him for the opportunity he provides, you act very negative and impolite (and in dutch where the rest of this thread is in english). It is just an option offered by Jerome to meet YOUR requirements. If you don't want to give your IMEI you simply don't. The normal way to reply to Jerome seems to me to be something like "Thanks but no thanks, I rather don't give my IMEI".
-
Thanks but no thanks, I rather don't give my IMEI.

Nothing personal Jerome, but its rediculious that we should pay for the app. It should be a service of Synology!
I`am not dying from 3 euros, but hey we are Dutch ;)

Hi,
Synology provides a web interface for your iPhone, where you can add new downloads and monitor others.
I provide a simple way to add new downloads, with 1 click, from the webview, or through rss feeds, or even through custom search engines.
Honestly, I don't see why Synology would make such an application.

Jérôme

Hi all,
Just to let you know, if you didn't notice, that SynoLoad (normal and HD) v1.6 is now live on the AppStore !
Enhancements:
- Improved text readability for Retina Display
- Added swipe to delete in the download list
- Added Norwegian translation
- Improved startup time (5 times quicker !)
- Optimized web navigation: speed improvements (twice faster !)
- Optimized connection time (twice faster !)
- Reduced memory consumption (works better on iPhone EDGE and 3G)
- Changed application language in real time (no need to restart the application anymore)
- Automatically select the language based on the device language at first run
Bug fixes:
- Some urls in the searchers make it impossible to download the file
- RSS feeds are not shown if they contain only one item

Jérôme

How about the android version?

Hi,
I'm having some technical issues, and a lack of time :)
But it will come out, it's my current priority.

Hi,
Because there was absolutely NO return from WinMob users (you're the second one), I have discontinued supporting WinMob 6. So no, there won't be any more updates for WinMob. I'll see about Windows Phone 7 though :)

Hi all,
I bought the iPad version, and started testing it. The only problem I have is when I log in with my second user (full admin rights) i can not add downloads to the download list. When I change my user account back to Admin that is possible.
Is there a solution for this problem?
Thanks in advance,
Reinder Jan

Hi,
Can you log into the download station part using the web browser, and check that the download folder is correct ?
If everything is fine (download folder is set, you have write access to the folder), send me a comment through the app after having had the error message, I'll be able to see the debug log.
Thanks,
Jérôme

Hi Jérôme
I purchased Synoload for Ipad and it's exactly the kind of application I was looking for.
Finally an easy app that allows me to search for content and directing it to Download Station immediately.
The only thing is that it doesn't look very nice, but that is a minor issue really.
Well worth the small price (and I'm Dutch too  )
Thanks for your efforts!
Regards
Sander

Thanks! About the design, I will try to improve that.
Cheers,
Jérôme
PS: don't forget to rate the app :)

Just bought the app, kinda pricey... but ok, it does exactly what I was looking for and works on iphoen and ipad. Now I wanna configure some search engines and RSS feeds(add manual) a little explanation here about link id, titel id, grootte id, custom etc. would be very welcome.
Can you provide some info and an example?
tia

Hi,
Did you have a look at my website? It should provide the info you need :)

Hi Jérôme,
Already contacted you through the support button in the app,but I would like to mention it here too. ( also for future customers )
Yesterday I decided to buy the app because it looked like just the tool I wanted to remotely add download jobs to my DS212+
I read the description in the app store and thought this app would meet my requirements.
Even though the app has a steep price ( € 3.99 ) I purchased it, just because of the above mentioned reasons.
However in de past day I have not been able to make it work.
Now I come to the understanding that this app doesn't support SABnzbd
I know, maybe I should have done some more carefull reading, but I have to say that I find it disapointing that you haven't made a remark about this in the description of this app.
So this message has two goals :
1 : please add to the app description that it doens't support SABnzbd
2 : please add SABnzbd support to your app ( so I don't feel like having spent mony for an app I will never use )
-
Hi Eric,
Sabnzbd is not standard Synology software, so why did you expect Synoload to work with it?
I honestly don't think the mistake here is at the side of the maker of the app.
Synoload is for the standard download station functionality of the NAS (as is clearly described in the app description @ http://itunes.apple.com/nl/app/synoload ... 28089?mt=8 (http://itunes.apple.com/nl/app/synoload/id350828089?mt=8)). If it was compatible with Sabnzbd, which is not available by default on a Synology, you might expect him to mention Sabznbd in the description. Not the other way around.
SynoLoad allows you to connect to your Download Station and manage your downloads. You will be able to add or remove files, but also check the speed or pause downloads.
If you want a client for Sabnzbd, you can download an app like "SabMobile" for example. Or search for Sabnzbd in the itunes store. There are many compatible apps, but I prefer SabMobile.
Björn
-
I understand what you mean Bjorn, and I partly agree with you.
Ofcourse I should have read better, absolutely.
But for me, and I guess for a whole lot of other users, the difference between Synology Download Station and Third Party packages is a bit more difficult to comprehense.
The way I looked at it whas "a download is a download", so an app that offers me the ability to remotely start my downloads is the app I need.
I always thought that the term "download station" was a way to inform people that you can use the Synology to download. I never saw it as the name of the package
And again, you are right when you say that there is a mention about Download Station in the description. Ah well, let's consider this as a lesson for me.
Therefore my previous message, just to inform others users not to make the same mistake I made.
( or am I really the only one who is that stupid ?  )
-
Hi,
I'm sorry to hear about that, but honestly, I won't modify the application description to mention that the app won't connect to SABnzbd+, nor Transmission, nor µTorrent, nor nzbget, nor any other downloading software. I have never seen an application saying "I can do that, but I won't do that".
I list all the features of the app... assume that what's not listed isn't available, and if you think that it's there, just ask :)
As you may have seen, I answer to the emails fairly regularly (may have 24hrs delay when no internet connection).
In your case, I've sent you a redeem code to download SABMobile for free, but I would really suggest your read the description better next time ;-)
Cheers,
Jérôme
PS: If you bought SynoLoad for 3.99€, please let me know where you bought it because it's 1€ more than it should be... the price should be 2.99€...
-
Hi Jérôme,
Yeah, I know you are right, but hey, can't blaim myself, somebody else must take the blaim.....
No, just kidding, you are right, I should have read better.
But as I explained to Bjorn, I never made the link between downloadstation as a package or downloadstation as a possibility of the Diskstation
It's hard to explain for me in english, but I just f#cked up in terms of understanding what was meant with downloadstation.
About the price, I will make it even worse, I paid €4,99  ( downloaded the iPad app from the app store on my iPad )
But not to worry, I am very greatefull for the redeemcode I got from you for SABMobile.
Altough you had no obligation in helping me, you still did, so that deserves a compliment on your service !!!
I now will test SABMobile and will rate it as soon as possible...
-
Hi again,
Yes, 4.99€ for SynoLoad HD, normal price then :)
Let me know what you think of SABMobile.
Cheers,
Jérôme
-
Well, so far it works like a charm...
I am lying in bed and am adding one download after another. It's one big party.
Tomorrow comes the real test, then I will be using the 3G network to add downloads.
But I feel confident it will work.
Again thanks jérôme for your service, it' highly appreciated.
-
I still wonder what Microsoft would have done if you'd come to them and say "I bought Windows XP to read my XLS document, but it doesn't work... could you offer me Microsft Excel ?" :)
Cheers,
Jérôme
-

Yeah yeah, I get the point....
But look out, these reactions may influence my rating on SABMobile
Something like "App works great, developer is a total @ss"

Evenals .avi, .wmv, mp4, enz enz.
Kan dat met deze applicatie wel?
Grt,
Wilfred
-
Hi,
Sorry, but the app is meant to connect to the download station, not upload files... you can use DS File for that !
Cheers,
Jérôme
-
-
Yes, it's meant to send the file to the NAS, but you won't be able to send files from your iPad to your NAS. It will send files from the internet to your NAS.
-
-
You can send everything, zip, dmg, mp4, etc...
-
-
Even een vraag....
-
Hi,
Sorry, I didn't get what you said... could you clarify please ?
Thanks,
Jérôme
-
Hi all,
Just to let you know that if you have issues, you can write here :)
Cheers,
Jérôme
