Ik heb een support ticket aangemaakt bij Synology en kort discussie gevoerd.
Bovenstaande oplossing werkt en als je in media server index folders ook de nieuwe share toevoegt kun je met DLNA prima de photo's zien maar
DS PHOTO+ is waardeloos geworden. Deze ziet de foto's niet meer omdat er niets in die map staat
Zie communicatie hieronder (van onder naar boven).
Hi Mark,
Sure, I will pass this message to our developers and product management group. They will have more research on such feature. Hopefully we will be able to support this feature in our future DSM releases. Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention.
Sincerely,
Antoine Yang

Dear Antoine,
Thank you for your response. It became clear to me that this has nog been thought through properly and that functions like encrypted backup and using ds photo+ are not working together.
I assume you have a development department to which you can send requests. I wish my idea is send to them since I consider this a serious flaw in the compatibility of the software.
You can image I would like to have my photo's back upped and since the photo's are back upped to a friends Synology NAS I would like to have them encrypted.
Functionality change should be to either allow system folders to be encrypted but I assume to give issues with DLNA protocol, or at least allow ds photo+ to see indexed folders, or be able to linked them to the photo folder.
Thanks
Mike

Dear Mike,
Thanks for your inquiry.
Shared folders with the following names are not allowed for encryption since they are associated with system services: web, photo, music, video, surveillance, download, netbackup.
The Indexed Folder is pertained to browse media files via UPnP/DLNA on a DMA player. However, you seems using DS photo+ to browse your photos stored on the DiskStation. In that, you must placed your photos under Photo as associated to Photo Station to be browsable by DS photo+.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Sincerely,

Problem Explanation: I am using photo station for a while now and everything worked fine with viewing my photo's on any windows/mc/ios device (by means of special DS Photo+ app).
I decided to back-up my pictures in the PHoto folder off-site to my friends Synology NAS and therefore I want to encrypt the data.
I cannot encrypt the system folder "Photo" in which my pictures are located so to work around this I created a new encrypted share called "pics" and moved all my pictures from the "Photo" system folder to "pics".
After doing this I made sure the "pics" folder is added to the media indexing service as a folder that contains pictures (see attachment).
I reindexed the files but even after a few days I still see no pictures in the folder. My NAS is also not indexing anymore so it seems it is ready but no pictures are shown (see attachment).
Also I have a question:
Why can't I not encrypt the Photo (and Video/Music) folder? I cannot seem to see a reason for this not being able to.
